About the SHOW
SAATH is seeking performers and choreography/movement directors for our upcoming Twin Cities Horror Festival production, Kalinga: Dance of the Curses — a bold, movement-driven horror production rooted in South Asian classical storytelling, mythology, ritual, and the body as a vessel for memory, fear, and transformation.
We are casting:
8 Dancers / Movement Actors
Seeking dancers proficient in one or more of the following:
Bharatanatyam, any other South Asian classical dance or folk storytelling forms, contemporary movement, non-verbal acting, contortion, physical theater, or other highly expressive movement traditions.
2 Choreography/Movement Directors
Seeking experienced choreographers or movement directors with strong storytelling instincts and proficiency in any Indian classical dance forms and horror/theatrical movement. Choreography Directors will help shape the production's movement language in collaboration with SAATH’s creative team.
Stipends
Dancers/ Movement Actors: $300
Choreography Directors: $500
Rehearsal Schedule:
September 1 – October 15
Mondays, 8-10 PM (production meetings for choreographers and directors only) Wednesdays, 6:30–10:00 PM
Sundays, 2:00–5:00 PM
We especially encourage South Asian, BIPOC, queer, immigrant, diaspora, and multidisciplinary artists to apply. Performers should be comfortable with ensemble-based creation, theatrical storytelling, emotionally intense themes, and movement that explores horror, ritual, mythology, and transformation.
Audition Requirements:
Submit artist resume
Submit 1-2 work samples
Must be available for most rehearsals
Must be available for all shows
